Three new social games are making the splash on Facebook: Crime City, Simply Hospital and CSI: Crime City. If you're a fan of Mafia Wars, FarmVille or any of the Sims titles, you will definitely enjoy playing either of these games. In Crime City from Funzio, you rob storefronts and beat down pedestrians in order to rise out of the ranks of low-class thug. In Simply Hospital, you build up your hospital, curing the oddest of illnesses. And in CSI: Crime City, based on the TV series, you use your forensics expertise to figure out who broke the law. Consider playing through these games as a daily routine. Rob a few people, send them to the hospital and try to uncover who "really" committed the crime. It's RPG gaming across three titles that makes for one awesome day of goofing off.
Crime City is Mafia Wars in action. Although I do "love me some" Mafia Wars, it was always somewhat of a downer to only be able to click through various heists and gang battles. Crime City throws all of that out the window. Gameplay is still point-and-click based, but you actually get to have a customized character that you can see wreak havoc. The violence is graphic. Gamers will see their character use handguns, shotguns, semi-automatics, knives and bats to rob buildings and lay waste to people on the street. You'll hear people wince and moan after you shoot them, but the characters will get up and continue about their day as if nothing happened. Like most Facebook games, you can invite people to join your team. However, what makes this game cool is that you can instantaneously travel to rival "hoods" and rob storefronts as well as fight the boss of that "hood." There are actually several missions dedicated to this. Also, in order to build up your own neighborhood, you will need items that can only be gained as gift items from friends. This urges gamers to get their friends in on the action.
Simply Hospital from RedSpell does an excellent job of adding fun and humor to medical maladies. You'll work towards curing standard health issues like the common cold and upset stomachs, but you will also find yourself treating Zombie Syndrome and Disco Girl fever. This hospital does everything. If only, Andrew Lincoln from AMC's The Walking Dead was able to stop through your hospital, he may not have to worry about so many darn zombies.
In Simply Hospital, you start of curing the common cold. However, since each cold is different, you will always have to do Research and level up your knowledge of colds. Also, certain new cases will arise as you level up. If you are unable to diagnose a patient, you will also have to do Research to learn about the new illness. The humor lies in the characterization of each disease. Patients suffering from Frostbite will actually look like a snowman. Curing them involves setting up a steam room and melting the ice off of their skin. Several other illnesses of the body and mind work in a similar fashion. Gamers will also need to setup rooms for the various types of doctors in their hospital. Shrinks need their own office and can't work in an Examination Room. As you add new treatment rooms to your hospital, you will need to hire doctors. New doctors can be added from pre-programmed game avatars or from your friends list.
CSI: Crime City from Ubisoft has the most story and interaction out of all three social games. After you create your character, you will be presented with a murder mystery that needs solving. Gamers must investigate various crime scenes, purchasing tools to collect forensic evidence. From there, they must go back to their lab to examine the evidence through chemical, ballistics, DNA, light and microscope tests. What's really slick is that you actually work with members of the TV show while you investigate. So you'll actually have to go to Dr. Raymond Langston, who looks like a perfect cartoon replica of Laurence Fishburne. As investigations increase in difficulty, gamers will need to upgrade the various stations in their crime lab. The game smartly allows you to visit your friends' Crime Labs and use their facilities. By doing this, you can run multiple tests simultaneously without exhausting your financial resources. It behooves players when starting out to martial out crime lab tools to buy. That way one player can have a fully leveled up ballistics station, but travel to his or her friends DNA station to conduct DNA tests there.
Crime City, Simply Hospital and CSI: Crime City are three excellent new additions to the social gaming arena. These games are simply addictive.
